The Goshen Church, not far from my home, sits deep in the hills of Brown County, Indiana, on the old Georgetown Pike. Being one of my favorite painting subjects I have painted it many times, all in different seasons, views of perspective and atmospheric conditions. The church was built in 1874 and still in use. This painting was from a photo I took back in 1979, and actually the church is in better structural condition today. Its comforting that the congregation has been active and keeps the old church in good repair and upkeep. It is rumored that some of Daniel Boone's relatives rest in peace in the church grave yard. |
